Galaxy Active Watch 2 gets SmartThings Find in full feature update

Not even a full day after its full official announcement, the SmartThings Find service is already being launched for some models of Galaxy Active Watch 2. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg that is the newest over-the-air update for the wearable 2019 from Samsung.

Identified by the release version R820XXU1DUA3 / R820GFC1DUA3, the firmware update was first spotted earlier today by one of our eagle-eyed readers from Canada.

How long before SmartThings Find reaches more Galaxy wearables?

SmartThings Find arrives in the wake of nearly half a year of Samsung teasers. The feature was originally mentioned during the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra announcement as a way to underline the ultra-wideband support (UWB) of that particular flagship. And it was yesterday that Samsung finally announced a practical and real application of this tracking solution in the form of an extremely convenient Android Auto integration.

The newly discovered update also brings the group tour challenge recently launched within Samsung Health for Galaxy Watch Active 2 users. And just because 2020 is behind us, it doesn’t mean that Samsung took proper hand hygiene less seriously. . Because the tech giant now appears to be bundling its Hand Wash app with maintenance updates. As a reminder, this smartwatch educational tool was launched in April, emerging from the Samsung R&D Institute India-Bangalore (SRI-B).

General purpose performance improvements and bug fixes are also part of this firmware version, according to a changelog that accompanies the download. Galaxy Watch 3 and other Samsung wearables will presumably not lag far behind Galaxy Watch Active 2 in obtaining SmartThings Find. After all, even without Samsung’s quest for parity of wearable features, support efforts focused on modern Galaxy smartwatches have been spectacular.
