So far, Samsung has done an excellent job of launching Android 11 on its Galaxy smartphone and tablet line, but there is still a lot of work to be done. Over the past week, Samsung has expanded Android 11 to more devices in the Galaxy A and Galaxy M series as well.
Looking at the popular Galaxy A series, Samsung is bringing Android 11 to the Galaxy A51 5G and A71 5G. These devices equipped with 5G are among the first Galaxy A devices to obtain a stable update from Android 11 / One UI 3.0, and are arriving well ahead of schedule. Previously, Samsung’s own roadmap estimated a May 2021 release for this update.
In India, Samsung is also promoting stable updates from Android 11 to two M series devices, specifically the M30s. The Galaxy M31s is also being updated in Russia and Ukraine. As the staff of XDA captured, this update weighs only 2 GB, with the rest of the devices mentioned here likely receiving an update of the same size. Android Police it also points out that the changelog mentions the removal of Google Cast support in Samsung’s screen mirroring software.
Samsung still has a long list of phones and tablets to bring to Android 11, especially at the lower end of the spectrum. Most of the more affordable Galaxy smartphones still don’t have Android 11, but it’s nice to see Samsung so far in two of its most popular series.
