Gal Gadot from Wonder Woman talks for the first time about the cast of Cleopatra

Wonder Woman 1984 is finally hitting theaters and HBO Max tomorrow, but it is not the last time Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins will be working together. In October, it was announced that Gadot would play the title role in Cleopatra with Jenkins directing a script by Laeta Kalogridis. However, there was much controversy surrounding the decision. Many people felt that the role was being whitewashed and should have been attributed to a black woman. While Cleopatra’s story takes place in Egypt, the iconic figure was not really Egyptian, she was Greek. Gadot, who is Israeli, finally spoke out against the reaction and argued in favor of his cast.

“First of all, if you want to be true to the facts, then Cleopatra was Macedonian,” Gadot told Sam Asi of BBC Arabic. “We were looking for a Macedonian actress to fit Cleopatra. She was not there, and I was very much in love with Cleopatra.”

Gadot added: “I have friends from all over the world, whether they are Muslims, Christians, Catholics, atheists, Buddhists or Jews, of course … People are people, and with me I want to celebrate Cleopatra’s legacy and honor this incredible historical icon that I I admire so much. “

She concluded, “You know, anyone can make this film, and anyone can go ahead and do it. I am very excited to be making my own too.”

As for Wonder Woman, Gadot recently commented on whether or not there will be a third Wonder Woman movie. When questioned, Gadot said Variety, “We have no idea. You never know. I would love to do another one if the story is great and with Patty [Jenkins] clear. But I do not know. We’ll have to wait and see. ”Gadot added that a third film would be a“ beautiful ending ”.

“We’ll see what happens. I really don’t know,” said director Patty Jenkins The New York Times when asked if a third party Wonder Woman you can go Rogue Squadhers Star Wars feature film recently announced on Disney’s Lucasfilm. “I know I would love to do the third one if the circumstances were right and there was still a possible theatrical model. I don’t know if I would do it if there weren’t.”
