Electronic retailer Fry’s Electronics is leaving the market after almost 36 years.
Fry “made the difficult decision to close its operations and close its business permanently as a result of changes in the retail sector and the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic,” the company said in a statement on its website. The company said it started the “slowdown” process on Wednesday and stopped normal operations.
The chain, which has 31 stores in nine states, was also known for its elaborate store themes, such as the location in Burbank, California, which had a flying saucer sticking out of the building.
The statement also said that customers who had something repaired at a store can send an email to [email protected] to resolve the return.

On Twitter, people lament the closure of the network, including some notable names.
The closure of Fry’s Electronics is the end of an era. A time when you went to an Aztec temple and heard screams from a man in a vest for not knowing enough about computer parts, you took a motherboard from a guy who lived in a cage and then got air freshener from a can of food of cat.

When I lived in Palo Alto, going to Fry’s was always fun. It was Disneyland nerd.
Fry was not normal like Best Buy, they had real electronics and a fantastic number of PC update parts.
They will be missed. <3
