ROCK HILL – Educators who teach personally in South Carolina spend 3 to 5 days at school with students, but are not included in phase 1A of the distribution of the COVID vaccine.
Senator Mike Fanning presented and sponsored a joint resolution directing DHEC to include public school teachers and support staff at this current stage.
The resolution recently went into second reading. Fanning says it is something that cannot happen soon.
The third and final reading is expected to happen soon. Supporters of the resolution say that teachers getting the vaccine in the summer does not make sense. They hope that approved teachers can be vaccinated by March.
