Although only a handful of stitches receive freezing rain this afternoon and tonight, take it seriously if you can.

Freezing rain forms a layer of ice and makes driving or walking dangerous.

The National Weather Service has a winter weather alert for counties that will see the most occasional freezing rain.

If you plan to go out this afternoon or evening, regardless of your municipality, check the 69 News Weather App’s interactive radar. If you see pink near you or moving in your direction, I highly recommend rescheduling your plans for when it’s not cold .

Uneven snow will continually fall in Poconos, north of the Lehigh Valley (north of major cities) and north of Reading this afternoon and evening. The snow will be little more than cover, but less than half an inch, for the points that see it.

The occasional snow and freezing rain will end around 2 am.

We are dry on Sunday.

Next, we are tracking more uneven freezing rain and uneven snow on Monday afternoon.

Then, we will have a brief break from ice formation in some spots and snow on Monday night, during rush hour.

After dinner time, the freezing rain will spread and everyone will see the ice build up on Monday night.

It will still be cold on Tuesday morning during rush hour. Then, the freezing rain changes to normal rain in the late morning, with the warmest air coming in from the south. The rain ends before dinner time on Tuesday. It won’t be cold for Tuesday night work.

We got our breath back on Wednesday with a sunny sky. Go out at night to see Mars beside the crescent moon.

NASA also lands on Mars on Thursday! An off-road vehicle and a small drone helicopter are on their way right now. They are on a six-month journey.

On Thursday, we will see more punctual freezing rain in the afternoon and evening, which will cause icy spots for the night shift. Then, the freezing rain changes to normal rain early Thursday evening while the warmest air comes from the south again. We will have pure rain on Thursday night and all day on Friday.

The next weekend is dry. We will be sunny next Saturday and partly sunny next Sunday.

Throughout the week, check out our updated weather forecasts so you can stay on top of the latest details on icy weather.
