Kelsey Grammer is returning as Dr. Frasier Craine in a reboot of the beloved “Frasier” series, which will soon be coming to Paramount +, the CBS streaming service under the new brand.
The news was released Wednesday in ViacomCBS ‘streaming presentation that the Emmy-winning sitcom would win a second life, along with many other series and films.
“Having spent more than 20 years of my creative life on the Paramount lot, both producing shows and acting in several, I would like to congratulate Paramount + for its entry into the world of streaming,” said Grammer in a statement obtained by TVLine. “I look forward to sharing the next chapter in Dr. Frasier Crane’s ongoing journey.”
“Frasier is one of the most acclaimed comedies in the history of modern television and really defines a premium narrative,” said prez David Stapf of CBS Studios in a statement. “There has long been a fan call for his return, and that call has now been answered thanks to the incredible Kelsey Grammer replaying his iconic role as Dr. Frasier Crane and a brilliant creative plan by Joe, Chris and Kelsey. We can’t wait to reveal your next chapter at Paramount +. “

Production is scheduled to begin production this summer.
Other series arriving at Paramount + include the seventh and final season of “Younger”, two series derived from “Yellowstone” entitled “6666” and “Y: 1883” and a feature film “Ray Donovan” with the star of the series Liev Schreiber set to co-write.

“Criminal Minds” is also receiving reboot treatment and will be accompanied by a series of documentaries. The procedural drama aired for 15 years on CBS.

Paramount + will also have a new series of anthology of real crimes, entitled “American Tragedy”, based on the success of the Paramount Network miniseries “Waco”.
And a series of series adapted from Paramount’s extensive film library, including “The Italian Job”, “Love Story” and “Fatal Attraction”.

The new films “Pet Sematary”, “Workaholics”, “Paranormal Activity” are going to the streaming service and revivals of “Reno 911” and “Inside Amy Schumer” as specials.
