Fraser to star in Aronofsky’s “whale”

Darren Aronofsky is to direct Brendan Fraser in an adaptation of Samuel D. Hunter’s play “The Whale” on A24 and Protozoa Pictures.

The critically acclaimed story follows a 600-pound middle-aged man named Charlie and his attempts to reconnect with his 17-year-old daughter.

The two broke up after Charlie abandoned his family for his gay lover, who later died. Charlie then went on to compulsively eat because of grief.

The project will mark Aronofsky’s first feature since 2017, “Mother!”. Most recently, Fraser voiced Cliff Steele / Robotman on HBO Max’s “Doom Patrol” series.
