Protestant evangelist and missionary Franklin Graham expressed outrage on Thursday at the 10 House Republicans who joined Democrats this week to vote for President Trump’s impeachment a second time – and said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi may have them influenced.
“Shame, shame on the 10 Republicans who joined @SpeakerPelosi and House Democrats in impeaching President Trump yesterday,” wrote Graham. “After all he did for our country, would you turn your back and betray him so quickly? What was done yesterday only divides our nation even more.
In a separate Facebook post, Graham developed the theme of “betrayal,” comparing the 10 Republicans to Judas Iscariot, the fallen disciple of Jesus Christ, whom the Bible says he betrayed Christ in exchange for 30 silver coins.

“It makes you wonder what were the thirty silver coins that Mayor Pelosi promised for this betrayal,” Graham wrote.
Pelosi is expected to take the next steps after Wednesday’s impeachment vote during a Friday morning news conference at the Capitol, Reuters reported.
On Twitter, Pelosi did not recognize the 10 Republican anti-Trump votes, saying only that the majority of House Republicans “betrayed” their “sacred responsibility” by siding with the president.
In subsequent comments, Graham acknowledged that President Trump was not “a perfect person”.
“I do not support or agree with some of the things the President has said and done in the past few weeks,” wrote Graham, 68, one of the five children of the late Reverend Billy Graham, the legendary preacher and missionary who died in 2018 at the age of 99.
“January 6 was a low point in his presidency. We knew he was flawed when he ran for office in 2016. But I, and millions of others, voted for him because of the platform and the policies he promised. I still support these . “
Graham accused Democrats of “trying to get rid of the president from the day he took office.”
In a September appearance on Fox & Friends Weekend, Graham said that only God could solve the problems that America faces today.
Before a prayer march in Washington that month, Graham said the United States needed “spiritual healing” after problems he said included marginalizing the Church and its leaders.

“I believe that the socialists in this country would like to close the churches, but I will just pray that we turn our eyes to God,” he said.
In November, Graham praised President Trump’s three Supreme Court nominees – Judges Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett – after they ruled in favor of New York churches and synagogues that opposed state limits on coronavirus in worship services.
Graham wrote on Twitter that he was “grateful for the appointment of President @realDonald Trump to 3 conservative #SCOTUS judges who ruled last night for the churches and against the government’s exaggeration in New York state.”
