FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) – A Frankfort couple succeeded in the Kentucky Lottery on their celebrated 30th wedding anniversary.
The couple wants to remain anonymous, but the husband told lottery officials that he doesn’t play Cash Ball 225 very often, but had gone to East Wood Shell on Versailles Road in Frankfort to play his Pick 3 and Pick 4 numbers when he decided to buy a Cash Ball 225 ticket for the March 9th draw.
The next morning, he pulled the winning numbers on his phone using the lottery app to check his tickets. He checked his Pick 3 and Pick 4 tickets, but won nothing from them.
“I was like, oh, wait, I have a Cash Ball ticket to check,” he said. “I always look at the Cash Ball number first and I’m sure I got it right. I looked at the other number, matched and then the other number, matched and then the other number that matched. I blinked my eyes and looked at the last number realizing that I had all the numbers, ”he told the lottery officials. “I threw myself in the chair,” he said.
He went to show his wife when he told her to get his glasses.
“I think I’m dreaming,” he said.
She looked at the passage and, sure enough, he got all the numbers right.
“We tickled ourselves to death,” said his wife.
He told lottery officials that the two worked that day.
“It was definitely not a normal working day,” he said.
He made the trip from Louisville to the lottery headquarters on Thursday, where he received an after-tax check of $ 159,751.42.
The couple said they had rented a house throughout their married life and intend to buy a house.
