APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) – Registration begins Friday morning for a mass vaccination clinic COVID-19 inside the Fox Cities Exhibition Center. This clinic is for anyone aged 65 and over, regardless of where they live.
The clinic will open next Tuesday, February 2. It will be open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 9 am to 11:30 am and again from 1 pm to 3 pm

The plan is to have 333 vaccination vacancies per day, for about 1,000 injections in the arm each week, while vaccines are available.
“Our goal is to receive a greater supply of vaccine from the state in the coming weeks and months, and this clinic could increase the number of community members who will be vaccinated,” said Appleton public health officer Kurt Eggebrecht.
Representatives from the departments of Ascension Wisconsin, ThedaCare, Outagamie County Public Health and Appleton Public Health announced the clinic at the 355 W. Lawrence St. exhibition center in Appleton, late Thursday afternoon.
“I heard from members of our community in Appleton City and surrounding communities who are frustrated about where to go to get the vaccine, where to apply and concerned about how they would access this critical resource, and this clinic provides clarity,” said the mayor of Appleton, Jake Woodford.
Three conference rooms are now part of the mass clinic: a space where people who register will learn about the Pfizer vaccine, an area with curtains for the injection itself and then an area to be observed by health officials later.
A second appointment will be scheduled during the first appointment to receive the second and last dose necessary for the vaccine to be effective.
Health officials are warning people that it can be difficult to enter, as they expect a lot of interest.
“It is frustrating for us too. These limited vacancies are likely to be filled very quickly and we must anticipate that people will be disappointed, and then we will be disappointed, but that is the reality, ”acknowledged Eggebrecht. “We are working on the assumption that we will move on every week until we don’t have the vaccine for it. We want the vaccine to be the limiting factor. “
“The community’s response so far has been extremely positive,” said Dr. Tom Nichols of Ascension Wisconsin. “People are excited about this vaccine. People are seeing that light at the end of the tunnel and knowing that we are approaching the finish line. “
“One of the reasons we took a while to get this clinic up and running in Fox Cities is our approach. Our approach has been about partnership. You will see the logos of agencies and organizations on the boards around the board, I hope you take a moment to see this. There are so many people involved in making this happen, and it really is a testament to the strength of our communities, ”said Mayor Woodford.
Appleton will be testing for coronavirus within the clubhouse of the Reid Golf Course at 1100 E. Fremont St. starting Monday, February 1. Tests are currently scheduled from 8 am to 4 pm Monday through Wednesday of each week until March 10. February 15 for the celebration of President’s Day, a federal holiday.
