An exciting day for Michigan on the recruiting trail included a verbal interview from a four-star athlete from Germantown (Tenn.) High 2022 Kody Jones who designs the cornerback on the next level.
Jones chose the Wolverines over a list of offerings that also Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Texas A&M and several others.
“Very excited, I’m very excited and blessed to be in this position,” said Jones, who was recruited to Ann Arbor by Maurice Linguist.
“The relationship I had with Coach Mo, I felt deep inside. Coach Mo is a great coach and I feel like he can do the job for me on and off the field ”.
In the film, we see the Jones of 5 feet-11 1/2 and 180 pounds making great moves in the running back, in the back game and obviously in the secondary, a smooth and explosive perspective that can change direction, has that body control and after contact skills. He is a physical football player.
“I love your intelligence, stamina and quickness as a player,” said Pro Process Academy coach James Williams. Jones could play corner or nickel at the next level. “I think he moves well. When he plays at the slot machine, he has a unique ability to use his feet and hands at a high level and has skills with the ball. I think it will help a lot in the game back too. I think of him (high school coach) Gene Robinson it has been a real blessing. Only we can work together, for him to have a off-season and stuff and play in Pylon tournaments and stuff and encourage the growth of his players who come to play with us. “
The linguist offered it to Jones in January and the two got along.
“Really the things he was saying I felt so quickly,” said Jones. “The things he was talking about, the future, the little things, I just assimilated those moments and I knew they were real.”
The excitement with Michigan goes beyond Linguist.
“Tradition, all the great players who came from Michigan,” he said. “I feel like I have been praying about the situation and I feel why I should wait. I am very excited and ready to start. “
