There are two cases in each Yamhill and Lane County, the state Health Authority said in a series of tweets on Friday. The cases are mild or asymptomatic.

“We are working with our local and federal public health partners to investigate and determine the source of the cases,” said the agency. “Genome sequencing is underway and we expect results next week.”

The agency referred to the positive test subjects as “innovative cases”, meaning that they contracted the virus at least 14 days after receiving the two doses.

The Health Authority said more innovative cases could arise.

“Clinical trials for both vaccines currently in use included innovative cases. In those cases, even though participants took Covid, the vaccines reduced the severity of the disease,” the agency said in a tweet.

“Based on what we know about vaccines for other diseases and initial data from clinical trials, experts believe that taking the Covid-19 vaccine can also help prevent you from becoming seriously ill, even if you get the virus. … Oregon, possibly vaccinated, remains a critical goal in ending the pandemic. “

The agency’s announcement came on the same day that its health officer said there had been a decline in daily Covid-19 cases in recent weeks. As of Friday, there were 149,576 cases in the state, according to the department’s count.

“These cuts are a testament to the actions that all Oregon residents are taking to slow down the spread of Covid-19 and the sacrifices made – thank you,” said health officer Dean Sidelinger at a news conference on Friday.

Another groundbreaking case was reported in North Carolina, according to NBC WCNC-TV affiliate in Charlotte. The state Department of Health and Human Services told the media that the person had mild symptoms and did not need to be hospitalized.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that quarantine is not necessary for people who are fully vaccinated within three months of receiving their last doses, as long as they do not develop any symptoms.

They, however, still need to practice certain safety measures, such as wearing face masks, social distance and avoiding crowds or poorly ventilated spaces.

“Fully vaccinated” means that at least two weeks have passed since a person has completed their vaccination series.
