STERLING, Va. – A sheriff’s deputy, two security guards and a theft suspect are recovering from gunshot wounds after a wild shootout on Saturday at a Walmart store in Loudoun County.
Police say the two Walmart security guards confronted the suspect for stealing items around 5 pm Saturday at the store in Dulles Crossing Plaza in Sterling.
Police said the suspect drew a gun during a “fight” as two deputies from the sheriff appeared to arrest him.
The suspect allegedly shot the sheriff’s deputy and the two security guards.
Police say they shot the suspect while exchanging shots outside the store. The suspect stole a getaway car from a nearby parking lot.
Police said they had searched the suspect for three hours. He crashed the stolen car at Presgraves Court in Chantilly.
Police took the suspect to a local hospital, and the charges were pending on Sunday morning.
The sheriff’s deputy and two store security guards who were shot must survive.
