Four 2022 recruits the Longhorns should look for

Putting Texas back on the national recruiting scene was one of the biggest tasks that Steve Sarkisian needed to accomplish from the start. Recruitment within the state would always work out for a program like Texas, but being able to enter other states is what builds national championship teams.

A big step was taken on Saturday, when five-star quarterback Maalik Murphy committed to the Longhorns. He is ranked the second professional quarterback in the country, from Gardena, California. Murphy has one of the highest ceilings in the entire 2022 class, but it will bring much more than just talent on the pitch.

The recruitment momentum is real and Texas should be able to capitalize after bringing in a big-name quarterback. Sarkisian has the ability to get some of the best offensive talent in the country due to his background in Alabama. Bringing a five-star quarterback and the best running back in the state is a great base. Now, the Longhorns need to go after players in skill and attacking positions.

Here are four perspectives that Texas should look for after Murphy’s commitment.
