Fortnite v15.50: what to expect

Fortnite v15.40 is due out on Tuesday, February 16. Here’s what to expect from the update.

The rumor is spinning when it comes to Fortnite v15.40. Some players, who report having some internal knowledge, called the content of v15.40 “The most incredible thing of all”.

We don’t know exactly what that means, but we do have some ideas. Here’s everything you need to know about the update before the patch notes arrive on February 16th.

Bug fixes

Bug fixes are a natural part of any Fortnite update. We only have a few issues configured to be fixed in v15.40, which may not be the main focus of the update.

One item that we don’t see listed is related to the set of superhero skins. At v15.30, Epic attempted to remove players’ ability to use all-black and white superhero skins. Fans quickly found an alternative solution, however, that prompted Epic to remove skins from competitive modes.

Here are all the items listed as “Fixed in the next game update” in the Trello Board of Fortnite community issues.

  • Total bars appearing as 0 in a match.
  • Purple XP coins disappear when conducted (without granting XP).
  • The combination does not start if the unprepared player leaves early.
  • (Creative) Telephone booths do not respect island settings when players change clothes.
  • (STW) Find a Durrr Burger without telling the “Location: Burger Break!” Search for adventures.
  • (STW) Portraits of mythical lead survivors appear only as silhouettes.

“The most amazing thing ever”

On February 14, data miner ShiinaBR tweeted that a Japanese content creator, urara_123urara, said v15.40 would be a “real mess” and “the most incredible thing of all”.

We don’t know how this creator would know what the v15.40 update had in store for the game, but that led to a lot of speculation in the community. What could be an incredible addition and a mess at the same time? We have no real idea.

With the 5th season’s FNCS underway, it wouldn’t make much sense to completely change the goal of the game. If Epic made a big change, it wouldn’t be the first time that we would see a Fortnite update in the middle of the tournament.

If something huge happens to Fortnite, we expect it to be excluded from competitive modes for the rest of the season.

Weapon / vehicle mods?

Normally, we would assume that these leaked features would be maintained until Fortnite Season 6. With the rumors that this is a massive update, however, we are beginning to think that we may see weapon and vehicle mods sooner or later.

Earlier this year, data miners found files related to weapon and vehicle mods that will arrive in Fortnite in the future. That would be great for the game, which is why a lot of fans assumed that Epic would hold on until season six.

With rumors revolving around v15.40, however, these mods are the only major leaks that come to mind. We will have to see what happens when v15.40 is released.

Again, we have no idea if weapon and vehicle mods are coming to Fortnite at v15.40. Common sense says that these will be the features of season 6, and we’re only including them because of speculation about the impact that v15.40 will have on the game.

A hidden weapon

Epic Games has confirmed that version 15.40 will feature a weapon without cultivation. We have no idea what it is going to be, but we can guess what most of the Fortnite community probably wants: the Pump Shotgun.

In addition to this weapon, it is difficult to guess what weapon returning we could see. Burst AR can come back, but Heavy AR already fills that space. We wouldn’t mind watching the explosion go away for the rest of the season.

If the bomb comes back, the shotgun’s plunge pool would be relatively disorganized. We would have Charge, Lever-Action, Tac and Dragon’s Breath shotguns. With all of these options, we would probably still see most players choosing Pump over everything else.

Whatever happens, we will be here to cover changes, fixes, patch notes and everything else when the new Fortnite update goes live. Make sure to follow us on Twitter @FortniteINTEL so you never miss the latest Fortnite news.
