GRAFTON, Wisconsin – A former Wisconsin hospital employee was arrested Thursday afternoon after telling authorities that he intentionally removed COViD-19 vaccines from the refrigerator at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton.

The Grafton Police Department announced the arrest in a press release, but did not provide the name of the arrested pharmacist. He is currently being held at Ozaukee County Jail and faces provisional charges of placing security recklessly at risk, altering a prescription drug and criminal property damage. The pharmacist is a resident of Grafton, according to the statement.

Last week, a former Advocate Aurora Health employee in Grafton deliberately removed 57 vials of the Modern vaccine from refrigeration, spoiling more than 500 doses of the vaccine.

On Thursday, the president of Aurora Health Care Medical Group said 57 people received one of the spoiled vaccines. The president also said that there is no harm in receiving a spoiled vaccine.

The value of spoiled vaccines is estimated at about $ 8,000 to $ 11,000, police said.

There is no known reason why the pharmacist did this.
