Former ‘Survivor’ contestant Jonny Fairplay arrested in Danville for allegedly stealing from his grandmother

DANVILLE, Va. – “Survivor” alumnus Jonny Fairplay and his mother were arrested by the Danville Police on Friday on charges of theft for allegedly stealing from their grandmother.

According to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, Fairplay, 46, whose real name is Jon Dalton, and his mother, Patsy Hall, 67, allegedly stole three stools, a side table and a valued leather chair at $ 1,950 in total, as well as a silver necklace valued at $ 5,000.

By an arrest warrant obtained by TMZ, Fairplay allegedly stole these items from her grandmother Jean Cook’s home without her consent.

The authorities said that Fairplay and Hall surrendered as soon as they found out they had arrest warrants against them in Danville.

The case is being handled by the Juvenile District Family Court.

Fairplay is known for competing on the CBS reality series “Survivor: Pearl Islands” in 2003 for creating what host Jeff Probst called “the biggest lie ever told” on the show, reports EW.

During the part of the series where participants visit their loved ones, Fairplay made a friend tell him that his grandmother had died to win the sympathy of other contestants on the program. Immediately afterwards, he revealed in an individual interview that his grandmother, the same one mentioned in the arrest warrant, was actually alive and “sitting at home watching ‘Jerry Springer’ now.”
