Former South Carolina headline Matrick Belton signs with WWE

Highlight of former South Carolina Gamecocks Matrick Belton is starting a new professional career by entering the square circle. Belton is one of several recruits who join the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

WWE has added a new group of signatories to its emerging list. Belton will have the opportunity to learn from WWE coaches in an effort to enter the world of wrestling. He will be accompanied by notable former athletes in Bronson Rechsteiner and Parker Boudreaux.

Belton played 21 games for the Gamecocks. He was a former pass receiver who received 11 receptions for 121 yards during the 2015 season. He was also a player on special teams from the fifth year of last year. Before South Carolina, Belton played at Hampton University for two seasons. He added four receptions and 33 yards as a freshman from the Pirates.

He also spent time on the training ground with the Philadelphia Eagles. However, Belton decided to bet on professional wrestling and started training at the Combat Zone Wrestling Academy in New Jersey.

Belton now joins a long list of former athletes to make the leap into the ranks of WWE. He follows in the footsteps of WWE legends like Bill Goldberg, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Brock Lesnar to enter the ring. Other athletes who are dominating WWE stories today include Roman Reigns, Big E Langston, Bray Wyatt and Baron Corbin.

WWE is currently preparing for its WrestleMania 37 stretch that is scheduled to take place in April. The biggest wrestling event will take place in Raymond James The stadium will be a two-night event on April 10 and 11.

The show could be the stage for Belton in the future. He could headline alongside Boudreaux and Rechsteiner for years to come.

Rechsteiner joins WWE as the son of former WCW star Rick Steiner. He played at Kennesaw State and recently was at camp with the Baltimore Ravens. Boudreaux was a former UCF standout and drew comparisons with Lesnar.

WWE Triple H Executive Vice President of Development and Global Talent believes Boudreaux could be another solid addition to the company. He is also excited about Rechsteiner and Belton.

“I’m incredibly excited about Parker Boudreaux entering, Bronson Rechsteiner, we have a lot of people coming in the door. Just as I am with people who have been here for some time, ”said Triple H.

Belton is likely to train at the WWE Performance Center and begin his journey at the WWE NXT. The brand under development shows a program every Wednesday at 8 pm on the USA Network.
