Former South Carolina and Florida coach Will Muschamp has been working with Georgia football for the past few weeks. Now, Kirby Smart has confirmed Muchamp’s role at the University of Georgia.
Muschamp played security in Georgia and trained defenders several times throughout his coaching career. He will be a defensive analyst in Georgia and is scheduled to earn $ 300,000. Muschamp will also receive a purchase of almost $ 15 million from South Carolina.
The former UGA student (1991-1994) was fired by the Gamecocks before the end of the 2020 college football season. In South Carolina, Muschamp ended his career with a 28-30 overall record.
Before becoming a coach in South Carolina, Muschamp was defensive coordinator for Auburn in 2015 and was the head coach of the Florida Gators.
Coach Kirby Smart and Muschamp are friends, who played together at UGA. They trained together several times, including stints at Valdosta State, LSU and the Miami Dolphins. Muschamp’s son Jackson Muschamp joined the Georgia program as an intermediate quarterback.
Muschamp played security in Georgia and trained defenders several times throughout his coaching career. His experience against Clemson, SEC East and more will be an asset to Georgia next season.
