Former R&B Ideal singer stabbed to death in Houston

Cedrick ‘Swab’ Cotton was stabbed in broad daylight

Cedrick cotton, known as the “Swab” of the popular 90s R&B group Ideal, was stabbed to death in southwest Houston on Tuesday. He was 46 years old.

Police identified the suspect as a black man in his 20s.

Cotton Mother, Delores Floyd, he said he frequented the local Fondren Food Market, where he was killed in broad daylight.

“He rode a bicycle, went there, smoked a quick cigarette. The next thing I know, I get a call and I hear people … ‘He comes here every day. It doesn’t bother anyone. He’s a good guy, ‘”said Floyd ABC 13 News.

When news of Cotton’s death began to circulate, community members gathered, including Cotton’s uncle, William King.

“I saw him lying there. I couldn’t do anything but cry last night, ”said King.

Cotton was a member of the R&B Ideal group with his brother Maverick cotton “Mav”, cousin Wayne “PZ” Perryis friend Jay “J-Dante” Green who released his first album in 1999, which yielded singles like “Get Gone”, “Creep Inn” and “Whatever”.

The group issued a statement on its official Facebook page on Thursday, recognizing him as “a loving father, a good brother and an incredible friend”.

“This unexpected attack devastated our family, friends and support system,” said the group.

While the incident is being investigated, Floyd asks the suspect to surrender to the authorities.

“Whoever has done this, surrender. You know, it’s time for this nonsense. Killing people is not the right thing to do, ”said Floyd.
