Former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton wished newly appointed President Joe Biden success in his new role with a moving video that aired on Wednesday night.
Former presidents gathered at the Memorial Amphitheater at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, to record the warm message for Biden, who broadcast during the inaugural special “Celebrating America”.
“Sir. President, I am rooting for your success. Your success is the success of our country and God bless you,” says Bush in the video.
“I’m glad you’re there and I wish you the best,” says Clinton. “You spoke to us today, now you are going to lead for us, and we are ready to march with you. Good luck. God bless you.”
“Joe, I’m proud of you,” said Obama of his former vice president. “You and Kamala need to know that all of us here are rooting for their success, keeping them in our prayers, and we will be available in every way we can as citizens to help guide our country forward. We wish you good luck. “
Notably absent was former President Donald Trump, who refused to attend Biden’s inauguration ceremony.
Instead, he opted to have a farewell event at Andrews Joint Base in Maryland on Wednesday. Trump and his family disembarked from Air Force One for the last time when they landed in Palm Beach, Florida, their new permanent residence.
