Former NFL defender thinks 2 teams would become Super Bowl contenders after switching to Eagles’ Carson Wentz

ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky continues in the movement of Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz.

The former Detroit Lions defender believes Wentz could turn the Indianapolis Colts or the San Francisco 49ers into Super Bowl contenders. The Eagles put Wentz at risk after his disastrous performance last season.

So far, the Colts and the Chicago Bears are seen as the main contenders for Wentz’s services. However, no team appears to be willing to meet the Eagles’ trade demands for Wentz.

Orlovsky thinks Wentz would be better off in Indianapolis or San Francisco than in Chicago.

“If the Bears get Carson Wentz, that doesn’t make them a Super Bowl contender,” Orlovsky said in a video on Twitter on Tuesday. “It makes them better (but) you can’t ask yourself, ‘If we get this quarterback and he plays the best he can, are we better? You have to ask yourself, ‘If we get this defender, with that list, and he plays the best he can, can we win the Super Bowl?’ There are two teams in Carson Wentz’s conversation that fit this mold: the Indianapolis Colts and the San Francisco 49ers. “

The Wentz market appears to be at a standstill, while the Colts and Bears await GM Howie Roseman, who has little influence at the moment. Wentz has experience with technical teams from both teams.

Wentz worked with Colts coach Frank Reich, wide receiver coach Mike Groh and senior offensive assistant Press Taylor in Philadelphia. He also worked with Bears QBs coach John DeFilippo during his first two seasons.

While the Bears clearly think they can save Wentz’s career, Orlovsky believes the Colts and 49ers offer much better opportunities for the struggling defender.

“If Carson Wentz goes to any of these teams, and he plays as well as he did in parts of his NFL career – with the lineups they have – they are legitimate contenders for the Super Bowl,” said Orlovsky. “The Bears, with that offensive line and skill group, are not.”
