Former Missouri Governor Eric Greitens Announces Senate Proposal for ‘Special Report’

Former Republican Missouri governor Eric Greitens, who resigned in 2018, announced on Monday in the “Special Report” that he is running to succeed in the retirement of US Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo. in 2022.

“I am so encouraged by the people of Missouri that I am happy to announce tonight that I am running for the United States Senate to continue serving the people of Missouri,” said Greitens, a former Navy SEAL, Bret Baier.

“I think the people of Missouri now need a fighter in the United States Senate,” he added. “They need someone who will, like me, as I am committed to doing, to defend President Trump’s ‘America First’ policies and also to protect the people of Missouri from Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck’s radical left Schumer agenda. “Said Greitens. “We are very excited. We have a great base team and we are in this race.”

Greitens was indicted in February 2018 on charges of invasion of privacy on allegations that he had photographed a woman with whom he was having an extramarital affair while she was tied up and partially naked without her consent. The following April, he was accused of tampering with a computer by allegedly taking donor and e-mail lists from veteran support organization The Mission Continues for fundraising purposes.

Both charges were dropped in May, but the Greitens resigned in the face of the impeachment process by the Missouri legislature.

“Why continue with this?” Asked Baier. “Do you think it will not come back in this race?”

“Well, Bret, we hope that the truth will continue to appear in this race, and that the mainstream media will denounce it,” replied Greitens. “After a twenty-month investigation by the Missouri Ethics Commission, they came out and said that we are completely cleared. They found no evidence of any wrongdoing by Eric Greitens. As you know, the prosecutor funded by George Soros [St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner] who went after us, his investigator was charged with seven crimes for perjury and tampering with evidence for fabricating a false case against me. As you also know, a journalist has already admitted paying $ 120,000 in cash bribes to people who lied about me. Therefore, we have been discharged and we are making progress.

“But you resigned. Why resign?” Baier asked later in the segment. “You have two governors, Democratic governors: Ralph Northam [of Virginia] he faced serious accusations and accusations about the black face in his yearbook. You currently have New York Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo facing a number of charges, and yet they stand firm. You give up. Why?

“Bret, we resigned because at the time it was what I needed to do for the people I love the most. It was one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do, because I knew that all of these accusations were false,” Greitens replied.

“The good news for us is that the big wave of lies has now hit the rock of facts, and one of the things I know as a boxer is that you can lose a round, but you can still stay in the fight and win the fight. I know that it is a Navy SEAL that you can lose the battle, but still remain in the war. And the fact is that the people of Missouri now need a fighter. “

Blunt, 71, chairman of the Senate Republican Policy Committee, has served in the Senate since 2011.
