Former Texas Longhorns coach Charlie Strong was officially hired by Urban Meyer and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
This is a meeting for Strong and Jaguars coach Urban Meyer, who trained together in 2005-09 at the University of Florida and won two national championships together. There are several university ties within Meyer’s team, including former Texas defensive coordinator Chris Ash, who will serve as a secondary coach for Jaguar.
Strong’s tenure in Texas ended with an overall record of 16-21 over three seasons, after taking over from legendary coach Mack Brown. On Thursday, the Jaguars officially announced that Strong will serve as assistant coach and coach for internal linebackers.
