Former ‘I’m a Mac’ actor Justin Long casts shadow on M1 Apple Silicon in new Intel advertising campaign

Intel turned to the services of former actor “I’m a Mac” Justin Long in a series of new announcements in which Apple’s latest custom-made M1 processors are said to be inferior to newer laptops with Intel processors.

Well-known for his role in Apple’s popular “Get a Mac” TV advertising campaign in the 2000s, Long stars in a series of ads called “Justin Gets Real” on Intel’s YouTube channel, starting each video by presenting itself as ” … to Justin – just a real person making a real comparison between Mac and PC. ”

In an ad, Long promotes the flexibility of Windows laptops, specifically the Lenovo Yoga 9i versus a MacBook Pro. In another video, Long finds a PC user playing on the MSI Gaming Stealth 15M laptop, equipped with an Intel Core i7. Long then orders a Mac, before quickly agreeing with the PC user that “no one plays on a Mac”.

Other announcements include long shadow on behalf of Intel for the lack of Apple touchscreen Macs, the inability to connect more than one external monitor to ‌M1‌ Macs and the variety of different options available for laptops equipped with Intel.

Intel undertook a similar marketing campaign in February with a series of tweets highlighting the “shortcomings” of Macs with Apple’s ‌M1 em processor compared to computers with Intel processors. In November, Apple launched its first Apple Silicon and is expected to make the complete transition from its entire Intel line-up in the next two years.

This is not the first time Long has appeared in advertising campaigns for Apple’s rivals. In 2017, the actor starred in a series of Huawei commercials promoting the company’s Mate 9 smartphone.
