Former Alabama kicker is transferred to SEC school

Former Alabama kicker Joseph Bulovas announced his new destination on Friday night.

The holder for parts of the 2018 and 2019 seasons has said he will continue his career at Vanderbilt after previously entering the transfer portal.

“It’s been an incredible four years in Tuscaloosa and I can’t thank Coach Saban and the Alabama program for everything they’ve done for me,” wrote Bulovas in an Instagram post. “It was really an honor to play for Crimson Tide and be part of two national championship teams. With that said, I will play my last two years of college at Vanderbilt University! #AnchorDown ”

Bulovas was on Alabama’s 2020 list, but did not appear in a game. He went from 22 to 29 field kicks in the previous two seasons with a 49-yard long in 2018. Kicking extra points, Bulovas made 75 to 81 in 2018 and 59 to 61 as a second year in 2019.

Since he resigned in 2017 and the 2020 season doesn’t count against his eligibility, Bulovas would have two more seasons to play for Vanderbilt. He lost his initial job in 2020, when Will Reichard came back from a hip injury and took every shot he tried.
