Since the PS5 went on sale last year, players are struggling to acquire the new console. But it has been difficult, almost impossible, to find where to buy the PS5. Supply is low, demand is high and money changers are ruining everything for everyone.
Frankly, I don’t have time for all of this. Not just because of the effort involved, but because I am much more interested in a different console that is on the horizon. What is said is that a Nintendo Switch Pro 4K with OLED can arrive before the end of the year, and that is something that really gets me excited.
It’s impossible not to love my switch
My consoles have been largely neglected in recent years, mainly because adult life has left me with no time or energy to play often. There were countless times when I took a game just to forget what was going on and what I should be doing.
I had to restart Doom 2016 four times over the years, because I turn on my PS4 and find myself completely lost. As Gandalf in the Mines of Moria . Fortunately, I never got past the first levels, so very little of the consequences are lost.
It’s a totally different story on the Switch. I may not have enough time to play the Switch as much as I would like, but the nature of the console makes it much easier to catch it at sporadic intervals. In fact, my switch has not been connected to the dock for almost two years.
It doesn’t matter where I am. I played Switch on the couch while my girlfriend watches TV, in bed when I can’t bother to move all day, even on a long-haul flight across the Atlantic. You know, at a time when traveling between continents was really possible.
The point reached that I stopped buying several games because of mere rumors that they could turn on the Switch at some point. The most recent example is Crash Bandicoot 4. I would love to play it, and while I could pay up to $ 60 for a console version and play it today, I prefer to be patient and have the freedom to play on the Switch. In addition, it will be released next week, so I don’t have to wait long.
Can you imagine what Breath of the Wild would look like in 4K HDR?
Switch Pro is a chance to fix Switch problems
Nintendo constantly denies that there are plans for an updated Switch, but the rumors never stop. I’m not surprised to be honest, because the sheer prospect of a better switch gets me excited.
The console we have now is fantastic, but it is far from perfect. Its graphics are acceptable, but not the best, and the battery life is terrible. There are also other problems such as the fragile support, the constant risk of diversion of the Joy-Con and the fact that it does not support wireless headphones without a third-party adapter.
Switch Pro may not solve all of these problems, but it will go a long way. After all, a more powerful switch means that it must be able to play larger games and consume more resources. And not just games downloaded from other consoles.
Can you imagine what Breath of the Wild would look like in 4K HDR? The game already looks incredible, but the Switch’s hardware can’t go that far. It may even be enough for me to connect my console to the TV.
As long as it’s not Wii U 2.0
My only concern is the rumor that the real portable Pro switch will only have a 720p screen. I really hope that this is false, or that there is a better version available. As we are in 2021, even cheap smartphones come with Full HD screens now.
A Nintendo console has long been considered powerful compared to the competition, but maintaining 720p would be an insult.
Despite that. I’d rather wait for Switch Pro than have the trouble of trying to get a PS5 or Xbox Series X. Not that I really could if I wanted to, given everything that’s going on.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m aware that Switch Pro will have similar problems. The original switch may be four years old, but it is still popular enough that there would be a serious shortage throughout 2020.
Imagine how bad it will be when Switch Pro arrives. Especially considering the amount of scalping that is happening with the new limited edition Zelda Joy-Cons.
But hey, I’m looking forward to it regardless. I love my Switch, and if I’m going to have to fight scalpers and bots for months to get a new console, I prefer it to be the Switch Pro than a PS5. And if I can wait for the games to arrive on the Switch, I can certainly wait for a new console as well.
