During the Ford F-150 Raptor 2021 teaser campaign, Ram took advantage of the ad campaign to challenge the Blue Oval to “open the hood” of the new performance truck and compare it to the TRX. Now, a leading Ford spokesman has a replica that scoffs at how Ram is promoting the TRX.
Mike Levine is the manager of Ford Product Communications. He noted that the location of a Ram TRX promotional film was the same as that of the recently released Nissan Pathfinder.
This would generally be good. Car manufacturers shoot their promotional material in the same space all the time. Ram’s message to accompany the clip is the problem. It said: “Some are content to go to the limit. We will continue to move forward.” As Levine notes, the TRX is not really crossing the border if a Pathfinder has no problem getting there, either.
While this kind of back and forth between Ford and Ram on social media has nothing to do with real products, it shows how companies are watching themselves closely. They compete for the same buyer segment and look for any possible competitive advantage.
Ford is not talking about the new Raptor leaving yet, but it is probably at least 450 horsepower (336 kilowatts) out of the previous generation model, if not more thanks to changes like the new exhaust. The figure is probably not close to the TRX’s 702 hp (524 kW).
The most powerful Raptor R arrives next year with V8 power. Rumors suggest that the engine is the Mustang Shelby GT500’s 5.2-liter supercharged V8 that would make the truck a 760 hp (567 kW) Raptor.
