Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F), General Motors Company (NYSE: GM) – Will Ford or GM’s shares grow further by 2022?

Every week, Benzinga conducts a sentiment survey to find out what traders are most excited about, interested in or thinking about while managing and building their personal portfolios.

We surveyed a group of over 500 readers to find out if they share Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) or General Motors Company (NYSE: GM) would be the fastest growing in 2022.

Ford vs. GM stock

Ford designs, manufactures, markets and serves a variety of Lincoln cars, trucks, sport utility vehicles, electric vehicles and luxury vehicles worldwide. The company has about 14% market share in the United States and around 7% in Europe.

Ford’s mobility segment designs and builds mobility services; and provides autonomous system development and vehicle integration, autonomous vehicle research and engineering, and transportation network development as an autonomous vehicle service.

General Motors has seven brands and operates in four segments in 2021: GM North America, GM International, Cruise and GM Financial. The United States now has four brands: Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac.

The company remains the market leader in the U.S., with around 17% share in 2020.

The company also sells trucks, crossovers and electric cars to retailers for retail sales to consumers, as well as to fleet customers, including daily car rental companies, commercial fleet customers, leasing companies and governments.

EV Spotlight

Electric vehicle makers and EV service companies were in the limelight in 2020. With traditional auto makers like Ford and GM launching attractive electric options, consumers have more options than ever before.

The growing demand for EVs is not surprising. Thanks to the increasing popularity of Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) and Nio (NYSE: NIO) and as EVs become more popular, people are seeing many benefits from owning an EV, including cost savings on ownership and much less maintenance needs.

Readers who contributed to our study mainly expressed their thoughts on whether GM or Ford will become the most capable and successful American electric vehicle manufacturer in late 2022.

Although sentiment was unbelievably close, 52% of readers ultimately believe that General Motors’ stock will grow further, mostly outside the expectations of its EV and Cruise autonomous driving unit that tests and develops autonomous car technologies that will outperform. Ford in the short term.

This survey was conducted by Benzinga in December 2020 and included responses from a diverse population of adults aged 18 and over.

Adherence to the survey was entirely voluntary, with no incentives offered to potential respondents. The study reflects the results of more than 500 adults.
