Ford has a different way of ‘renting’ the Mustang Mach-E

Alex, from Alex on Autos on YouTube, ordered Mach-E in a very Tesla way: making an initial deposit ($ 500) at the launch event and waiting a long time to get it (14 months). The difference is going through a dealership to make the sale.

But what is interesting is how he managed to “lease” Ford. It is not a traditional lease. You borrow the money from Ford as if it were a loan, and Ford has an agreement to buy your car from you for a certain price, if you comply with the terms of the contract.

However, your name is in the title. He says this allows Ford to give him the full $ 7,500 tax credit, which is not always the case with traditional leases. He plans to keep it for 9 to 12 months and buy it with a large payment.

If you go to the Mach-E ordering website and build what you want, you can click on the Financing button in the upper left corner of the screen. If you want to “lease” Ford, click on the Ford Option Plan (interesting name). You can then enter the term length, mileage and down payment to see your monthly estimate. You will have an order page showing the progress of your Mach-E after placing the order.

He chose the Premium trim with the extended battery (88 kWh versus 68 kWh in the standard range) and dual engines (AWD). At the 1:19 mark in the video, he shows the price of his Mach-E. I don’t know how the price started at $ 42,895, because when I built the same Mach-E it went for $ 56,200.

Regardless, what is interesting is the $ 4,100 he received in incentives in addition to the $ 7,500 tax credit, making the price $ 31,295 (theoretically). The Tesla Model Y Standard Range (RWD) starts at $ 39,990 and the Long Range (AWD) starts at $ 49,990. Just keep in mind that Teslas no longer qualifies for the $ 7,500 tax credit, but that will change if the Green Act bill is approved.

Watch the accompanying videos of this if you are thinking of buying a Ford Mustang Mach-E. I met Alex. The guy loves EVs, knows a lot about them and has been doing car reviews for a long time.
