A former Food Network culinary reality show winner who has been charged with child abuse homicide with her husband will remain in prison.
Ariel Robinson, 29, who won Food Network’s most recent season of “Worst Cooks in America,” told a judge that his 3-year-old adopted daughter, Victoria Smith, died on January 14 after drinking a lot of water, reports WYFF4.

During a virtual hearing on Friday, Robinson said the bruises on Smith’s body were caused by a Heimlich maneuver, attempted to save her. The girl died of blunt trauma, according to a coroner’s report, which did not list any mention of drowning.

Judge Letitia Verdin denied Robinson’s bail request.
“Based on the seriousness of the charges and the blatant nature of the allegations in this case, I consider that the defendant in this case represents a risk of escape or represents a substantial danger to the community, more particularly for the children in custody, and potentially even for herself, “said Verdin.

On January 14, police responded to Robinson’s home in Simpsonville after receiving a call about an unresponsive child, who was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.
