Food and water distribution locations in the Houston area

HOUSTON – The city of Houston remains under a boiling water recommendation and, although water pressure has improved throughout the area, the recommendation is expected to remain in effect until Monday.

Dozens of nearby counties, including Pearland and Katy, have also issued boiling water warnings.

Residents are advised to use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking and hygiene purposes, such as brushing their teeth or washing their faces, until the notice is withdrawn.

Amid the boiling water warning, several water distribution sites are being opened in the Houston area.

Astros Foundation, Brothers Produce, Mayor’s Office and the city of Houston have partnered to create a second water distribution event to take place on Sunday at Butler Stadium.

The event will be open to all individuals in the Houston area who need assistance. Each car of the event will receive five liters of water.

The event will start at 14h and will last until the end of the stock. Butler Stadium is located at 13755 S. Main Street in Houston.

Seven Harris County Precinct 2 Parks will host free water distribution. People must bring their own containers to fill with water, which will be provided on a first come, first served basis, and there is a limit of five gallons per person.

Note: because it is water from taps located in the parks, it is subject to the boiling area warning so it can be safely consumed.

The seven parks that will have water available are Clear Lake Park (5001 NASA Pkwy, Seabrook, TX 77586), Sylvan Beach Park (636 N. Bayshore Dr., La Porte, TX 77571), Bill Crowley Park (5100 Lauder Rd., Houston , TX 77039), Jim and Joann Fonteno Park (14350 ½ Wallisville Rd., Houston, TX 77049), Crosby Community Center (409 Hare Rd., Crosby, TX 77532), Riley Community Center (808 1/2 Magnolia, Barrett, TX, 77532) and Leonel Castillo Community Center (2101 South St., Houston, TX 77009).

Harris County Precinct 2 will offer two drive-through food pop-up gifts on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday’s event starts at 10 am and will be held at the Grayson Community Center at 13828 Corpus Christi Street.

Sunday food distribution will take place at 10 am at the Leonel Castillo Community Center at 2101 South Street.

People are asked to stay in their vehicles during distribution, and staff / volunteers from Police Station 2 will place food in the containers’ chests.

The Harris County Coalition of Ministers in the surrounding area is partnering with the Houston Food Bank, Houston Community College, Harris County Police Station 3 Constable Sherman Eagleton and Harris County Police Station 1 Commissioner Rodney Ellis for a food distribution event on Saturday, 20 February. distributed at HCC North Forest Campus at 6010 Little York Road in Houston from 10am. The event is scheduled to go until 3pm.

Cotton Holdings and its subsidiaries will distribute free hot meals throughout the Houston area on Fridays and Saturdays at the following restaurants:

  • Jimmy Changas (300 Westgreen Blvd, Katy, TX 77450): 300 meals starting at 11am on Friday and Saturday

  • Rollin Phatties (1731 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77098): 375 meals starting at 5:00 pm on Friday, February 19; starting at noon on Saturday, February 20

  • Jersey Mike’s Subs (7670 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024): 375 meals starting at 10 am on Saturday, February 20

Look for Nom Mi Street Food Truck and other food trucks at 3900 Alameda giving food to the homeless. They served on Friday and plan to return on Saturday, February 20, starting at 11 am, to give more free food.
