Florida’s minimum wage increases by a minimum amount on New Year’s Day.
The minimum wage for workers who were not tipped increased from $ 8.56 to $ 8.65 an hour, and the minimum wage for workers who were tipped increased to $ 5.63. The increases were due to an increase in the cost of living determined by law.
During 2020, voters in Florida passed a constitutional amendment to raise the minimum wage to $ 15 an hour, with about 61% of the vote, more than the 60% needed to pass.
On September 30, 2021, Florida’s minimum wage will increase to $ 10 an hour and then increase another dollar each year to $ 15 an hour in 2026.
