Florida-based restaurant chain will soon open its first SC location in North Charleston | The business

A new restaurant on the Charleston market will open its first location in South Carolina in the coming weeks.

Bahama Breeze, a Caribbean-inspired chain offering seafood, chicken, steaks and tropical drinks, may open as early as late February or early March at 7811 Rivers Ave. in North Charleston, according to officials at the location.

Its website says it is, “Opening the spring of 2021”, and a spokeswoman for the restaurant said a more definite date will be announced in the coming weeks.

The construction of the new restaurant is almost completed in the old Sears automotive site in an outparcel near the retailer Burlington inside Northwoods Mall.

The company recently applied for its license to sell beer, wine and liquor for internal consumption, usually a sign that an establishment is close to opening.

Bahama Breeze is part of Orlando Darden Restaurants, which also has Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse, among other brands. The new restaurant is on the same street as the Olive Garden.

New restaurant arriving in Charleston;  new floor store aimed at Mount Pleasant

Bahama Breeze operates 42 locations, mostly along the East Coast, but with a few others across the country in major US cities, including Seattle, Chicago, Memphis, Detroit and Las Vegas. Florida has 20 locations.

The closest restaurants to Charleston are in Atlanta and Raleigh, NC

Palmetto Custom Carts of Charleston recently rented 1,255 square feet on 3510 Park Avenue Blvd. inside Carolina Park in the northern part of the growing city, according to commercial real estate Belk | Lucy, who represented the landlord, The Bend in Carolina Park.

The golf cart business operates two other locations in Lowcountry on 1314 Stuart Engals Blvd. at Mount Pleasant and 112 E. 3rd North St. in Summerville.
