Florida-based restaurant chain will soon open its first SC location in North Charleston | Real Estate

A new restaurant on the Charleston market will open its first location in South Carolina in the coming weeks.

Bahama Breeze, a Caribbean-inspired chain offering seafood, chicken, meat and tropical drinks, is scheduled to open in late March at 7811 Rivers Ave. in North Charleston, according to a company statement.

Its website says it is, “Opening the spring of 2021”, and a spokeswoman for the restaurant said a more definite date will be announced in the coming weeks.

Construction of the new restaurant, which was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, is almost complete in the old Sears automotive center in a 2.2-acre outparcel near Burlington in Northwoods Mall. Last fall, based in California Four Corners Property Trust, a real estate company that invests in restaurants, has disbursed more than US $ 2.82 million for the location, which has a 10-year lease.

Bahama Breeze recently applied for its license to sell beer, wine and liquor for local consumption, usually a sign that an establishment is close to opening.

The chain is part of Orlando Darden Restaurants, which also has Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse, among other brands. The new restaurant is on the same street as the Olive Garden.

Returning

A Savannah-based chain of convenience stores recently announced the creation of a $ 20 million community fund to support charities in its presence in 68 stores off the coast of Georgia and South Carolina.

Parker, which recently expanded its operations with several new Parker Kitchen stores across the Charleston region, are thinking of reserving money from the new Parker Community Fund for specific charities that have not yet been determined.

“Last year, we were very lucky, but I looked around and saw so many people suffering and it seemed like the ideal time to step forward,” Parker founder and CEO Greg Parker he told the Post and the Courier. “We want to lead by example and convince others to join our initiatives.”

A committee will be established to decide how the money should be used to make the greatest impact, and a large amount of the money will go to major charitable initiatives in the Charleston area, he said.

The initial donation is intended to be the starting capital for a fund that Parker intends to cultivate. He is also considering adding a rounding campaign for customers to donate in his stores, which currently handle more than 125,000 transactions a day.

The company also reciprocates in the areas where stores operate through its Feeding the Community initiative, where a percentage of gasoline sales sold at Parker stores on the first Wednesday of the month is donated to support education, health and other causes.

In South Carolina, Parker operates in Charleston, Moncks Corner, Goose Creek, Summerville, Walterboro, Hardeeville, Bluffton, Hilton Head, Beaufort and Port Royal. More than 30 other stores are planned across the Charleston region in the next four years.
