MIAMI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, FLA. (WSVN) – A COVID incident at Jacksonville airport caused delays on some flights at other airports in the state, including in South Florida.

According to the authorities, the FAA’s Air Traffic Control Center in Jacksonville had to be evacuated and was temporarily closed due to a COVID incident. This center was thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before reopening around 6:15 pm

However, this closure had a ripple effect that led to a ground stop for some flights at state airports, including Miami and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood international airports, as well as Tampa and Orlando airports.

The incident was reported shortly before 5 pm, and flights resumed an hour later.
