FKA Twigs is detailing the “systematic” abuse she allegedly faced from ex Shia LaBeouf.
In an extensive interview with Elle magazine after his lawsuit against LaBeouf, Twigs, 33, says his love has turned from romantic to abusive – and that he allegedly gave her a sexually transmitted disease, claims also included in his Los County. Angeles High Court Complaint.
After being diagnosed with STD, which she describes as a final betrayal, Twigs mustered the courage to leave LaBeouf, 34, who she met after dating Robert Pattinson.
“I think it’s luck,” she said about being able to escape. “I honestly wish I could say that I found some strength and saw that light. I wish I could say, ‘[It is] a testament to my strong character ‘or’ It’s the way my mother raised me. ‘ That’s not it. It is pure luck that I am no longer in this situation. “
Twigs, who is now dating The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, said in the interview that LaBeouf would use “calculated, systematic, complicated and labyrinthine” tactics to keep her in the relationship, including “love bombing”, in which he would smother Twigs with flowers, mea culpas and much more to win her back after a fight.
“It was a little much. It was uncomfortable. I look back now and feel like a really aggressive love, ”she shared.
According to Twigs, LaBeouf’s alleged abuse did not happen overnight. Twigs says the “Pieces of a Woman” star’s behavior worsened after she moved in with him and experienced a progressive increase in abuse.
“If you put a frog in a pot of boiling water, it will jump immediately,” she said. “Whereas if you put a frog in cold water and heat it up slowly, it will boil to death. That was my experience being with [LaBeouf]. “
Twigs was also afraid of LaBeouf’s method of acting, which she claimed involved him keeping a gun at home. She also said that LaBeouf, who has a tumultuous dating history with other Hollywood women, bragged about shooting stray dogs to “get into character” for his role in “The Tax Collector” and questioned him about it.
“And he said, ‘Because I take my art seriously. You are not supporting me in my art. This is what I do. It’s different from singing. I don’t just go on stage and do some moves. I’m in character ‘, ”she recalled.
“He made me feel bad, as if I didn’t understand what it’s like to be an actor or do that … Method [acting]. “
When Twigs finally got tired, she started asking her friends for help, but ended up being afraid to do anything.

With the relationship in his rearview mirror, Twigs said he can resume normal life with friends and family without anyone controlling it.

LaBeouf, who has a troubled history with the law, denied “any and all allegations” in the Twigs lawsuit. LaBeouf’s lawyers argued in the documents that Twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Barnett, “suffered no injury or damage as a result of the defendant’s actions.”
They claim that LaBeouf’s alleged conduct was “reasonably necessary for his self-defense and / or security”.
LaBeouf checked into a long-term treatment facility in December after the Twigs lawsuit.
