DJ, play the hits.
Tell us if you’ve heard it before, but a cornerback recruiting five stars from Jacksonville has decided to continue his career as Buckeye.
Jaheim Singletary, of Florida’s Robert E. Lee High School, has pledged to the State of Ohio, he announced on Saturday. His commitment gives the State of Ohio the third commit ranked in the top 15 overall and the fifth commit ranked in the top 55 overall.

Singletary’s decision follows in the footsteps of former five-star Trinity Christian Academy Shaun Wade (2017) and Tyreke Johnson (2018), who chose Columbus as their next home from Jacksonville.
So to speak, Wade and Johnson’s choice to commit to the state of Ohio helped provide a way for Singletary to choose the Buckeyes.

“It’s the state of Ohio, they put a lot of DBs in the league and it’s a dream to go to a DBU school,” Singletary told Bucknuts in November. “They have guys from Jacksonville there, like Shaun Wade, Tyreke Johnson and [Marcus] Crowley. Since the state of Ohio offered me, I have spoken to them every day. ”
November 5 is when the Buckeyes finally call, and that was a seminal moment for player number 10 overall in the country and cornerback number 5.
Singletary has offers from Clemson, Georgia and Florida – the other three schools that were in their last four – in addition to LSU, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, Texas A&M and USC.

But Kerry Coombs’ reputation for putting defensive backs in the league, and his relationship with Coombs and area recruiter Tony Alford, led Singletary to expect him to receive an offer from Buckeye.

It was the offer he had been waiting for so long, and when it finally came, it was a matter of time before he decided.
“Ohio State is one of those schools that puts the best DBs in the league,” Singletary told Bucknuts. “Marshon Lattimore, Eli Apple, Malik Hooker, many more. They can get me closer to my goal of reaching the NFL and playing ball. ”
Singletary’s recruitment increased rapidly after that offer, as the 1.80m and 170lbs player had Crystal Ball predictions for him eventually choosing Columbus.
And now with him in the fold, the Buckeyes win another top-notch outside cornerback, while continuing to build their defense of the future with top-tier players.
