Five people and an unborn child were killed in a mass shooting inside a home in Indianapolis on Sunday morning, a report said.
A young male was also found injured in what investigators believe was a targeted attack by several snipers around 4 am, the Indianapolis Star reported, citing police.
“This morning, one or more individuals perpetrated an evil act in our city,” Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett told a news conference late Sunday, according to the newspaper.
“What happened this morning was not a simple act of armed violence … what happened this morning was a mass murder,” said the mayor.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department chief Randal Taylor said the violence was “the biggest mass shooting” in Indianapolis in more than a decade, the report said.
The police did not immediately reveal a possible reason for the deaths.
