Five HUGE games missing from Nintendo Direct in February

Nintendo’s latest Direct lacked news about some important franchises. Here are some important games and series that were not mentioned in the presentation.

The first Nintendo Direct live stream in over a year needed to be delivered, and so it was. Nintendo announced sequences, remasters and DLC that should excite Switch owners. But it was not perfect. Highly anticipated games and long-dormant franchises were not found during the presentation, some of which stand out more than others. Here are five main games that were conspicuously absent from Nintendo Direct this week.

Metroid Prime 4

The latest influential 3D game Metroid The spin-off series was originally announced at E3 2017. In 2019, Nintendo executive Shinya Takahashi revealed that the original version of the game (allegedly being developed by Bandai Namco Studios, had been discarded), and Retro Studios, which developed the first three games in the series, was being brought in to restart the development of the title.

Nintendo has been keeping quiet about the game ever since. The only source of news about this was the hiring of Retro. A steady stream of talent (including game developers like God of War, Grand Theft Auto and Call to action) joined the Texas-based developer. Fans can get excited about Retro reinforcing his team while he works on the game. However, it is still not enough to prevent fans from feeling that the game has completely disappeared.

Bayonetta 3

Although it seems severe, it seems to be more a matter of managing expectations. Kamiya seems to want any ad to be a pleasant surprise for fans, saying “when something finally happens, it will be a good surprise, won’t it?” It is likely that Nintendo is withholding a substantial disclosure for another Direct, or possibly another appearance at The Game Awards.

The Legend of Zelda’s 35th Birthday

The legend of Zelda has not been excluded from the last Direct. One HD port of the Wii game Sword to Heaven and DLC for Breath of the Wild spin off Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity both were announced. But although those were welcome, it is understandable why the fans wanted more. February 21 marks the franchise’s 35th anniversary and a collection of classics Zelda titles, similar to those of 2020 Super Mario 3D All-Stars, it would be a no-brainer.

Fans would also like to know more about Breath Of The WildThe continuation of the game, which was announced during E3 2019. Nintendo has not released any information about the game since its revelation. Anticipating disappointment, Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma appeared on Direct to apologize for the lack of BOTW 2 news, saying there should be more to say at the end of the year.

New Pokémon Snap

Anticipating players New Pokémon Snap have more information at their disposal than fans of other games missing from Direct. The game’s release date on April 30 has been announced and fans know the game’s storyline, setting and how its mechanics will work. All this does Photographabsence of conspicuous Direct. It covered games scheduled to launch in the first half of 2021, which would likely include Photograph.

However, this does not mean that the game is delayed; there is more likely to be a Pokémonwith the Direct theme coming to celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary later this month. Pokémon she always preferred to make big independent Nintendo Directs ads bigger, and it would make sense to give her the spotlight for this important milestone.

Although the previous games are all in some kind of development, it has been mostly quiet in Star Fox ahead for years. The last major launch was in 2017, when the previously unpublished Star Fox 2 was included as part of the SNES Classic. Fans haven’t seen a new console Star Fox game since 2016 Star Fox Zero on Wii U. Fox McCloud and his Arwing made an appearance in Ubisoft’s 2018 life toy game Starlink: Battle For Atlas on the switch, but this is not a substitute for a dedicated Star Fox games.

Star Fox fans would love to have a chance on the Switch, be it a new title or a collection. At this point, even a switch port independent of Zero would be welcome. For now, they will have to settle for SNES games being part of Nintendo Switch Online.
