Fitesa to add R5 line in South Carolina – Nonwovens Industry Magazine

Fitesa will add a line of state-of-the-art Reicofil 5 spun yarns to its unit in Simpsonville, SC. The new line is expected to start operating in the second half of next year. Executives are describing the new machine as unique due to the unique versatility in producing differentiated materials for a wide range of applications and markets. An important feature is the ability to convert bio and circular polymers into high-quality, high-productivity spunbond nonwovens.

“Fitesa is once again ‘serious’, investing heavily to support the growth of our customers with additional capacity and innovative technological resources,” says Ricardo Fasolo, vice president for the United States and Canada. “This machine will be able to produce some of the most advanced nonwovens in the world on a commercial scale, with a strong focus on sustainability and circularity.”

The Simpsonville installation is no stranger to expansion. Since 2011, more than 80,000 tons of capacity have been installed with 138 jobs created. More recently, Fitesa started a fused line to supply nonwovens for the production of face masks and respirators. In other regions of the world, Fitesa is adding spunbond capacity in Brazil, as well as fusion lines in Brazil, Germany and Italy, as part of a 55,000 ton global expansion plan announced in November.
