First Look at Peacock Revival – Deadline

Peacock released the first trailer for his Punky Brewster revival, with Punky (Soleil Moon Frye) now sailing through life as a single mother.

In a continuation of the iconic ’80s comedy about a brilliant young woman raised by a foster father, Punky is now a single mother of three trying to get her life back on track when she meets Izzy (Quinn Copeland), a young woman in the creation system who reminds Punky of her younger self.

Frye and Cherie Johnson (Cherie) reprise their original roles. The series also stars Freddie Prinze Jr. (Travis, Punky’s ex-husband), Quinn Copeland (Izzy), Noah Cottrell (Diego), Oliver De Los Santos (Daniel) and Lauren Lindsey Donzis (Hannah).

The original multi-camera series was created by David W. Duclon and premiered in 1984, airing for four seasons, two on NBC, the rest in distribution. He won three Primetime Emmy nominations, including two for the Extraordinary Children’s Program. The series launched Frye to stardom. She also voiced the Punky character in It’s Punky Brewster, an animated spinoff series that spanned two seasons and won a Daytime Emmy nomination for Best Animation Program.

From UCP and Universal Television, divisions of Universal Studio Group, Punky Brewster is written and produced by Steve and Jim Armogida (School of Rock, Grounded For Life) Frye serves as executive producer alongside creator of the original series David Duclon (Punky Brewster, Family Matters, Silver Spoons) and Emmy-winning producer Jimmy Fox (The Arrangement, United Shades of America) Main Event Media, an All3Media America company.

The 10-episode revival series will be released on February 25 at Peacock.
