Netflix just announced I care a lot will be on the streamer on February 19th and also released the first trailer for the screenwriter-director J Blakeson’s brutal new movie. I was able to see the film at the Toronto International Film Festival last year and it’s extremely well done and loaded with great performances. The film follows a highly successful legal guardian (Rosamund Pike) and your partner (Eiza González) who manage a range of elderly “customers” for personal financial gain. His plot is to put the elderly in a retirement home for the elderly and then shear them for everything they are worth. When they try to do their routine with a seemingly innocent new client (Dianne Wiest), they receive much more than they expected. The film also stars Peter Dinklage, Chris Messina, Isiah Whitlock Jr.and Macon Blair. For more information about the film, you can read Matt Goldberg’s review.

Although some trailers reveal everything, what I love about the way this trailer is cut is that it absolutely sells you in the movie, without letting you enter the various twists and turns. Also, if you’re used to seeing Rosamund Pike in serious roles, you can get a taste of her brilliant and unpleasant performance.

Check below along with the official synopsis. In addition, I spoke with Rosamund Pike and J Blakeson at TIFF so you can watch them talk about I care a lot on here.

Here is the official synopsis:

Balanced with shark self-confidence, Marla Grayson (nominated for Oscar Rosamund Pike) is a court-appointed professional guardian for dozens of wards whose assets she seizes and artfully steals by dubious, but legal means. It is a well-oiled racket that Marla and her business partner and lover Fran (Eiza González) use with brutal efficiency in their latest “cherry”, Jennifer Peterson (twice Oscar winner Dianne Wiest) – a wealthy retired lifeless heir or family. But when her brand reveals an equally obscure secret and connections to a volatile gangster (Golden Globe winner Peter Dinklage), Marla is forced to level up in a game that only predators can play – one that is neither fair nor fair .
