First glimpse of ‘Sex and the City’ without Kim Cattrall

The girls are back in town – most of them, at least.

HBO Max finally announced the official return of “Sex and the City”, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, 55, Cynthia Nixon, 54, and Kristin Davis, 55, who will also be executive producer alongside Michael Patrick King, confirmed the Variety.

Notably, the revival lineup is missing Kim Cattrall, 64.

On Sunday, Parker shared a video teaser with fans via Instagram, with the caption: “I couldn’t help wondering … where are they now?”

The footage is a montage of life in New York City and ends with the words “The story continues …” as if typed on a computer screen.

“And still,” Parker’s narration can be heard saying against the preview, which has been viewed almost 4.5 million times in just 15 hours since sharing.

The next chapter of lifestyle columnist Carrie Bradshaw (Parker), also entitled “And Just Like That …”, continues the story as she follows the three friends, including gallery owner Charlotte York (Davis) and attorney Miranda Hobbes (Nixon), now in his 50s. However, the 10 half-hour episodes, which begin production in late spring, will not include publicist Samantha Jones (Cattrall).

The fans are less than excited.

“Sex and the City without Kim Cattrall is like watching porn without sex. Samantha is the driving force behind #Sexandthecity, ” wrote @MusewitheMoon on twitter.

Even more savagely, writer Gerry Stergiopoulos tweeted, “’Sex and the City’ without Samantha is like ‘Snow White & the 7 Dwarfs’ without Snow White. Only the dwarves …
ps. Don’t you dare criticize Kim Katrall [sic] for leaving with grace. Miss @KimCattrall is one of the nicest people I have met in my life! “

The rivalry between “SATC” co-stars was well publicized for years after the original series ended in 2004, after six years on the air. The four women made two sequential films, which opened in theaters in 2008 and 2010. Since then, Cattrall has faced her three ex-colleagues on screen in the headlines. Insiders claimed that tensions arose at the beginning of the series, with Cattrall being called “a scene stealer in the best possible way”, despite Parker playing the show’s heroine.

In 2017, sources said Cattrall was the driving force behind the end of a third straight, with Parker saying he was “disappointed” with the result. “We had a beautiful, funny, moving, joyful and very identifiable script,” she said in a statement.

Cattrall was quickly blamed as the reason for the failure of the third straight.

“The answer has always been no,” Cattrall told Piers Morgan during an interview in response to Parker’s announcement in 2017. “I never asked for money, I never asked for a project. To be considered a kind of diva is ridiculous. “

Parker dismissed the murmurs of a feud on Monday morning, according to Page Six.

After fans on social media expressed their disappointment, Parker expressed his feelings.

“I am happy to see you back, but I will miss Kim / Samantha,” wrote a commentator on the Instagram of Parker, 55, to which she replied, “We too. We loved her so much. X ”
