Firewood for videogames: enjoy these bonfires inspired by Hades and Pokémon

For those of us who live in homes without fireplaces, sitting around the fireplace for a long, looping video on Netflix or YouTube is the next best thing. Fortunately, game developer Supergiant Games created a logbook based on their hit game Hades – which happens to be Polygon’s choice for the game of the year 2020.

You can enjoy the Supergiant House of Hades yule log – in 4K! – directly from YouTube. It offers 12 hours of crackling, animated fire uninterrupted complemented with garlands of pomegranates and golden skulls. The environmental sounds of the underworld really help to define the climate.

It’s a nice change of pace from the Fireplace for Your Home series available on Netflix – I’m a guy from Birchwood Edition – and a lovely environment if you’re playing Hades in portable mode on your switch.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for something warm and Pokémon-infused, there’s also Charmander’s Fireside Slumber. The Pokémon Company released that ASMR video earlier this year, allowing viewers to enjoy the soft sounds of a fire and Charmander’s inextinguishable tail. (Although Charmander’s Fireside Slumber sounds more like a forest fire spreading than a cold fireplace, which I find less relaxing.)
