A South Carolina fireman died in a motorcycle accident en route to the police station after a shift with another department.
The accident happened when firefighter Tyler Warfield, 23, was traveling north on Silver Lake Road in Spartansburg County, en route to the Reidville Fire Department, reports WSPA-TV. Warfield’s motorcycle collided with a truck, and the fireman died on the spot.
“You know, it’s difficult for all of us. It is difficult when it is someone else, but it is even harder when it is one of your own, ”Reidville fire chief Patrick Evatt told WSPA.

Warfield had just finished a shift with Clear Spring Fire and Rescue when the collision happened. Clear Spring fire chief Michael Huppmann said that working on consecutive shifts in different departments shows Warfield’s commitment to the fire service.
“He just left the shift this morning at 8 am and went on his way to Greenville to do a shift there,” Huppmann told WSPA. “I mean, it shows your dedication and devotion under the fire service. On his day off from here, he was working for another fire department. “
Warfield served in both departments for almost three years.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
