Fire Emblem: Three Houses Gatekeeper wins the Choose Your Legends in Heroes contest

Every year, Fire Emblem Heroes – the horny mobile casino version of Nintendo’s tactics franchise – holds a contest where fans vote for their favorite characters. Winners are added to the game as special versions with enhanced skills.

Usually, the winners that emerge from these democratic procedures are familiar faces that you would expect. Last year, the winners were Dimitri and Edelgard, two of the main stars of the Fire emblem: three houses. But in February, the Heroes community voted for sweet, sweet chaos.

Right now, the game is celebrating its 4th anniversary, which brings a new event and convocation. The news announcing all of this also includes the results of the aforementioned contest, which included important characters like Marth, a protagonist in previous games. You would think he would be a shame, especially since he is also part of franchises like Super Smash Bros., but not. Marth lost, loosely – and to a character who has neither name nor face!

The Gatekeeper, for those who haven’t played Fire emblem: three houses, became a meme within the fandom shortly after launch.

Although the character cannot be recruited in Three houses and does not play an important role, he is always happy to see you. Whenever you talk to the Gatekeeper, he gives you updates and spreads a little joy. The fans were so excited about it that they drew it in fan art and begged Nintendo to make it recruitable.

And now, years later, that love has defeated the power of a main character. The Gatekeeper will become a playable character in Fire Emblem Heroes sometime in the summer, although it is unclear what powers he will have and how strong he will be. The Gatekeeper will be accompanied by the Marianne fair, which was voted the most popular female character this year. The male and female runners-up will also get new playable versions, so poor Marth will still make an exhibition, alongside Eirika de Fire emblem: the sacred stones.

If you haven’t played Fire Emblem Heroes in a little while, now might be a good time – there’s a login bonus for the game’s anniversary, along with a host of other new features, such as the ability to customize the appearance of the main character.
