Fiona Apple Wins Best Alternative Music Album in 2021 Grammys

Fiona Apple won the 2021 Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album. Apple LP 2020 Take the Screw Cutters broke records for Phoebe Bridgers (Punisher), Docile impala (The Slow Rush), Brittany Howard (Jaime), and Beck (Hyperspace)

Earlier today, Apple explained in a video that she wouldn’t go to the Grammy, mainly because: “I don’t want to be on national television. I am no longer made for these things. I want to sober up and I can’t do it sober. It does not seem safe to be in this exhibition / scrutiny / comparison with people. ”She asked fans to sign a petition on the transparency of the court in PG County. Apple had previously criticized the Grammy for nominating Dr. Luke and said it wanted to crush the Grammy on stage and share the pieces.

Fiona Apple was nominated in two other categories at this year’s Grammy ceremony: She Take the Screw Cutters the track “Shameika” won the award for Best Rock Performance; he was also nominated for Best Rock Song, which was won by Brittany Howard. Apple’s first and only previous Grammy win came in 1998, when she took home the Best Female Rock Performance award for her hit single “Criminal”.
