There is a new Final Fantasy XIV expansion coming later this year, but first we have some loose ends to resolve. The third and final installment of the Nierthemed raid series and the first of a two-part story update that leads to this autumn Endwalker expansion arrives on April 13, along with the open beta of the PlayStation 5 version of the game.

Titled “Death Unto Dawn”, update 5.5 offers FFXIV players more delicious content to consume while preparing the story and setting for the Endwalker expansion and its influx of new healers. Along with great things like new main story missions and the third chapter of the YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse raid series, the patch will also do a lot of fun little things. Things like new actions by the artist, allowing bards to change instruments quickly during the performance, and new dungeons added to the game’s “Explorer Mode”, where players can stroll through dangerous locations and take screenshots.

The patch will be released along with the open beta for the PS5 version of the game. Players who already own the PS4 version will be able to download the update and try it for free, enjoying faster load times, better frame rates and support for 4K resolution.

  • New main scenario missions – Updating the story – divided into two parts – will pave the way for the Endwalker plot.

  • New Dungeon: Paglth’an – Players can face this new story dungeon alongside other adventurers or a group of non-player characters via Trust System compatibility.
  • “Save the Queen” Questline Update – Along with the addition of a new field area, “Zadnor”, ​​players can further upgrade their Resistance Weapons to their final and most powerful stage.
  • New Unreal Test – The next enhanced version of an existing primal will be released on level 80 heroes, offering players a new challenge and a chance to collect exclusive prizes.
  • Crafter Updates – High-level artisans can expect new content in Patch 5.5 that will bring them special achievements and exclusive creative tools.
  • Ishgard restore update – The residents of Firmamento will periodically conduct Fêtes to celebrate the completion of the restoration.
  • “Explorer Mode ‘update – The Explorer Mode feature will be expanded to offer additional dungeons. Explorer Mode allows players to explore danger-free dungeons to capture impressive and fun images, while allowing the use of mounts and minions. Players will also be able to use performance actions while in the dungeons, such as playing musical instruments.
  • Performance action updates – Players will now be able to change instruments at any time during play, and a new instrument will be added.
  • Work adjustments for PvE and PvP actions, New custom deliveries, ocean fishing updates, new assemblies and more.
